After an outstanding 2017, starting the year in new premises in Surrey, a number of investments coupled with some valuable new members joining in the production team. This has resulted in increased operational efficiencies and improved production times. To finish the year on a phenomenal high Curtis won three awards this included SME of the Year at UK Packaging Awards, Packaging Printer of the Year and highly commended for Company of the Year at the Print Week Awards and Solutions for Packaging at the Solutions Awards.
Starting 2018 has brought lots of excitement to the team at Curtis to see what the year will hold for them. This year we will be celebrating our 80th birthday, with that brings the prospect of working with some new and exciting brands, combined with our loyal customers. We have some stunning packs we will be putting forward for awards, once again showcasing over quality and the finishing touches brands are looking for.
A first for Curtis sees the launch of ‘Centre of excellence’. For the last couple of years, Curtis created a tool to help brands see what finishes would look like on their cartons. The Finishing Touches collection received some outstanding feedback on how helpful this has been for Brand Agencies and Brand Owners alike. Encouraged by this feedback Curtis realized they could support students during their design courses. The Centre of Excellence offers two bursaries each of £500 each. The first will focus on the construction of the packaging with the second concentrating on the graphics and the finishes. A panel of judges, who have offered their support to this initiative, will review entries. The winners will meet the judges and have a tour of their facility.
Steve Mallett who spearheaded the Centre of Excellence commented “Curtis has always been strong advocates for investing in the future, this will prove to be an excellent opportunity for students to show their skills. Sharing our knowledge will strengthen brand awareness with students as they join the workplace”.
